• Climb Lion’s Rock Fortress to capture the sunset – The Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress is an inspiring historical site in central Sri Lanka, built during the reign of King Kashyapa I between 477 and 495 CE. Perched atop a towering 200-meter-high rock, it served as a royal palace and stronghold. The name Sigiriya means “Lion Rock,” referring to the grand entrance that featured a lion-shaped gateway, with the massive lion paws still visible today. Visitors can enjoy the climb, which reveals stunning frescoes, the Mirror Wall, and beautifully landscaped gardens, leading to the summit where the remains of the palace and breathtaking views of the countryside can be found. Sigiriya is celebrated for its impressive engineering, innovative water management, and a remarkable blend of architecture and natural beauty.
